What the sources report
Indian pilot Smit Matsar was honoured on Tuesday (27/10) by UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, together with the other crew members, for their actions during the attack of 30 September.[1]
The crew of flydubai flight FZ 1073 received the First Class Order of Zayed II.[2]
Matsar was injured when the 29-year-old co-pilot Hamam al-Hamami allegedly struck him on the head with an emergency axe, during the flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv.[3]
At the ceremony, the marks from the blows to the back of his head were visible, while one of his arms remained in a cast.[4]
The president asked him how long it would take for his arm to recover. The pilot answered "Two months", and the president said that after his recovery he would teach him "how to fight".[4]
