Moritz Platt described a reality in which autonomous digital assistants (AI agents) will communicate directly with businesses' systems and carry out transactions on behalf of users.[2]

A prerequisite is the development of common technological protocols, security mechanisms and clear authorisation rules, so that transactions take place within the limits set by the consumer.[1]

According to a Google Cloud spokesperson, today's payment infrastructures have clearing procedures that often take one or two days, while AI agents are expected to generate a much larger number of transactions.[1]
