What is happening

What the sources report

Primary and secondary schools in the municipalities of Central Corfu, Diapontia Islands and South Corfu will remain closed on Tuesday 3 November 2026 due to dangerous weather phenomena.[1]

The decision on Central Corfu was taken by Mayor Stefanos Poulimenos, taking into account the Red Code of Civil Protection and the forecasts of the National Meteorological Service.[1]

A similar decision was also taken by the municipality of South Corfu.[1]

According to forecasts, the most difficult period is expected between 04:00 and 07:00 in the morning.[2]

The regional director of Education of the Ionian Islands confirmed the suspension to ANA-MPA and clarified that an update for the municipality of North Corfu is pending.[2]

Where they differ

For the municipality of North Corfu, ERT News writes that schools in the north will operate normally, while Naftemporiki reports that an update on what will apply in the municipality of North Corfu is pending, and Parapolitika that, as of the latest update, it had not been announced whether a similar measure would apply.[3][2][4]
