Why

• The average slant of political articles is −1.31 (n=29), with 25 of the 29 articles on the left (16 at −2, 8 at −1, 1 at −3) and only 4 on the right. This points to a clear left slant rather than merely centre-left.
• Tone toward the government is strongly negative (−1.19, n=32), while toward the opposition it is slightly positive (+0.38, n=24).
• In news texts the author characterises the government and its officials with evaluative terms without attribution to a source: “arrogance and hubris”, “ΙΧ foreign policy”, “diplomatic defeat”, a comparison with Caligula, irony about the Thessaloniki International Fair.
• Government positions are framed as communication constructs or a double game, and the author contradicts the prime minister with his own judgement.
• On the Turkish-Libyan memorandum the headlines frame the government as unprepared and slow. Samaras's criticisms are prominently highlighted. Gerapetritis's telephone diplomacy with Cyprus and Egypt was not covered.
• Positions of left-wing parties (KKE, MeRA25, SYRIZA, PASOK) are often reproduced without counterargument, even in headlines. One example is the claim about “excess profits of the refineries”.
