Why

• The average slant of articles with a recognisable direction is −1.1 (n=29). Of the 29 articles, 27 lean left (7 at −2, 20 at −1) and only 2 lean right. This points mainly to a moderate, centre-left slant rather than an extreme one.
• Tone toward the government is clearly negative (−0.85, n=39), while toward the opposition it is positive (+0.63, n=30). Headlines more often have the opposition as subject (20) than the government (10).
• In news texts the author expresses his own critical judgements of the government without attribution to a source. This is consistent with the high commentary index in news (2.17), although opinion articles are only 4%.
• There is loaded and sarcastic language against New Democracy and the prime minister (loaded_language 2.37).
• Actions of the opposition (PASOK, Tsipras, ELAS) are framed favourably or passed on without counterargument.
• Foreign coverage frames right-wing governments and the suppression of demonstrations negatively, which is consistent with a left-leaning perspective.
