What is happening

What the sources report

Minister of State Akis Skertsos responded in a social media post to the question «what have you been doing all these years against organised crime», citing the leasing of public space on beaches as an example.[1]

According to him, the government has been fighting this battle since 2023, starting from Mykonos, with the demolition of Principote's illegal constructions in Panormos.[1]

In 2024, together with Kostis Hatzidakis as Minister of National Economy and Finance, the rules for managing beaches across the country were changed.[2]

The auctions were transferred from the municipalities to the Property Management Services, and electronic auctions were introduced.[1]

For the period 2024–2026, the minister reports 12,730 concession contracts and a total financial consideration of 62.3 million euros.[2]
