What is happening

What the sources report

In Serbia, 42-year-old Marko Kritsak, head of the police Criminal Investigation Directorate, was arrested as a suspect for abuse of office while investigating a homicide case.[1]

Together with him, Bosko Sekoulovits, head of the Organised Crime Suppression Service, was also arrested.[2]

The two officers are considered suspects of abuse of power, with damage and serious violation of the rights of former Belgrade police chief Veselin Milic, in the context of an investigation into a murder in May at a Belgrade restaurant.[3]

The arrest took place one week after the early parliamentary elections, in which the list backed by the student movement prevailed.[1]

The head of the Belgrade General Prosecutor's Office, Nenad Stefanovic, said the arrest has no connection with the election result.[3]

Where they differ

iEidiseis reports that Kritsak is being investigated for mistreatment and torture in an incident of abuse of a suspect on 16 May 2026, while LiFO reports that it concerns abuse of a suspect during the same investigation.[2][4]
